History
The acclaimed Grand Master, Yip Man, began teaching Wing Chun in Hong Kong in 1950's. Through his contribution along with many of his students (notably his first and second students, Leung Sheung and Lok Yiu), Wing Chun flourished in Hong Kong starting in the 1950's, soon throughout Southeast Asia, and today all around globe.
The Houston Wing Chun Association was conceived in 1991 as a non-profit organization to foster the development of Wing Chun in the Mid-South area of the U.S.
Instruction
Our class is led by several senior members, who are diligent Wing Chun practitioners for the past 15-20 years. There are also other members who have been training for 5-10 years who assist in helping new practitioners to develop their skills.
Two to three times a year, we also have the good fortune of having Mr. Kenneth Chung to host Wing Chun workshops here in Houston. Mr. Kenneth Chung was trained under the legendary Leung Sheung back in the early 1960's, and has been teaching the art of Wing Chun in the late 1960's. He continues to pioneer the development of Wing Chun today.
