Yen Dor Ha Yen Siu (cantonese) - One who controls an opponent's sole hand by ganging up with both hands will always gain the advantage in combat.
As Wing Chun Grandmaster Yip Man's second Hong Kong disciple, Master Lok Yiu believed in this concept, skillfully implementing it during his many years in Wing Chun.
Master Lok passed away on February 6, 2006, in Hong Kong's Queen Elizabeth Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 83 years old.
Born in Hong Kong in 1922, Master Lok began his Wing Chun training in 1950 at 28 years of age. He and Master Leung Sheung, two of the top disciples among Grandmaster Yip's first generation of Wing Chun students, publicly demonstrated Wing Chun double-sticking hand skills in 1950s Hong Kong.
In 1959, Master Lok started teaching private lessons and opened his first school two years later. In over four decades of teaching Wing Chun, he produced more than a thousand exceptional students.
Master Lok had intensely dedicated his life to Wing Chun and treasured the art passionately. He has been viewed as an idol for his flawless execution of the Chum Kiu set and Luk Dim Boon Gwun (six and a half point pole).
Master Lok Yiu's family, students, friends and admirers will surely miss his spirit.
